What is the problem?
Children are undergoing immoral and inhumane situations that have altered their lives for the worse. According to various articles from The New York Times, these detention centers are not safe nor healthy for children. These children are left alone alongside other children without a parent in sight. Due to this, children are becoming parents to toddlers and babies, having to care for them because no one else will. Within these facilities, children are enduring unsanitary conditions. According to pediatric experts, these children are in the most dangerous possible conditions. These elements all contribute to the long-term effects of mental and physical health in children. These experiences of compounded trauma are the cause of death in children within the detention centers.
